Recordings/transcriptions of a batch of BBC Micro/Electron tapes bought from Ebay. Model B Computing #8 is not available on Stairway to Hell, and so this may be the only publicly available full transcription of this tape. Multiple tapes needed their foam pads replacing in order to make them readable. A chunk cut from a washing-up sponge was used as a temporary replacement foam pad for the purpose of reading the tapes. That is why these tapes contain the "_sponged_" identifier in their filenames. Browse all UEFs, all FLACs, or all images in the files_by_type directory. Browse all files per-tape in the files_by_tape directory. Many rejected, "difficult" FLACs are included here in the files_by_type/FLAC/_rejected_too_difficult directory, which may be of interest to those looking for tricky audio to stress-test Acorn cassette transcription programs like Quadbike or MakeUEF. Quadbike was not easily able to achieve error-free transcriptions of any of these rejected FLACs, so these tapes' audio was re-digitised. The _rejected_too_difficult set will be included in my own testing of Quadbike. Tapes included: - Model B Computing (Argus Press Software Group) - Numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 (Side 2 only) and 11 - Wizadore (Imagine) - Phantom Combat Flight Simulation (Doctor Soft) - Tempest (Superior Software) - Killer Gorilla (Program Power) - Beebug magazine cassette, volume 2, issue 5, October 1983 Model B Computing #10 seems to be damaged; audio exhibited constant clicking noises throughout. As such, Side 1 contained many errors, and so its transcription was aborted. UEFs contain inlay scan thumbnail images embedded using UEF chunk &3. These chunks may cause certain emulators to reject the UEFs. As far as I am concerned, emulators that are unable to handle unknown UEF chunks gracefully are broken, and their use should be discouraged. The best choice of emulator for these UEF files is the B-Em-TOH fork of B-Em. This supports display of inlay scans via the Tape Control window, as well as allowing free seeking through the UEF files. https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29078 https://beebstuff.uk/f/acorn/TOH/
